I discovered this man while participating in the Teaching Blog Addict Blog Hop.  Dan Meyer was featured in a guest piece on Teaching With Style, written by Melissa from Dilly Dabbles.

I started by reading Ten Design Principles for Engaging Math Tasks.  Then I browsed Mr. Meyer's spreadsheet searching for third grade tasks.  I found the following Three Act Tasks that you can download for free: Bucky the Badger and Pyramid of Pennies

Alright fine, most of his tasks are geared towards 6th grade and above,  but the principles are sound and I spent quite a while exploring his website and everything it is linked to.  Happy Reading!

Third Grade Common Core Standards made simple.

The best freebie I've found so far came from this outstanding blog called 3 Teacher Chicks:
Third Grade Mathematics Common Core Standards
Third Grade ELA Common Core Standards

Both files are available to download for free on Teachers Pay Teachers.  Three Teacher Chicks has also created similar downloads for other grade levels.  What a fantastic resource!!!
